Christmas is just around the corner. And while you may be dreaming of a decent holiday and plenty of presents, don’t forget your A customers.
Remember my last post? In it I talked about the importance of looking after your existing customers — the ones who give you more business and referrals. Well, Christmas time is a great time to reinforce those relationships and remind your top customers you care.
It might sound cheesy to show appreciation at Christmas. However, this is when your clients take stock and assess who cares about them and who doesn’t care that much.
Here’s what you should do:
- Identify your A-list customers — the ones you enjoy working with and who bring you the most profit.
- Choose a gift you can brand — it needn’t be expensive, just clever. Ideally you want to select something that reflects your brand and business. There are thousands of options out there. With a good brief, Caroline from Brand Identity can suggest something that fits your budget.
- Hand deliver if possible — this shows you really care! And in this world of endless digital communications, it provides another opportunity to connect face to face.
Stuck for ideas?
If you’d describe your company as “leading edge,” consider this year’s latest gadget — the Slim Power Bank.
The Slim Power Bank is a battery that recharges smart phones and tablets. Let’s face it, one of the biggest hassles with mobile devices is their batteries keep running out. So, if you give your customers one of these, they’ll love you for ever… or at least until next Christmas.
Details:
Smart aluminium finish
Ideal for charging mobile phones, cameras, GPS, Bluetooth speakers and headphones
Slim rectangular profile is ideal for sliding into the pocket alongside a phone while being charged
Recharging time is 5 – 6 hours, and the battery can be recharged over 500 times.
Picnic blanket
Are your brand values are more traditional? Well, this picnic blanket might be a good choice. And make sure you brand it. If you give your A customers these, they’ll be reminded of how much you care every time they enjoy a picnic over the holidays.

Some more ideas
Two of my favourites are Edible Blooms and Molly Woppy — both you can add your own brand to. Or, if all else fails, how about the tried-and-tested bottle of wine? I recommend red wine, though, because it’s more likely to stay in the cellar until winter. And get a label printed (digital printing of small quantities is completely viable these days) to place over the cap, so that your customers are continually reminded that it was you who gave it to them.
Showing appreciation to your a customers could be the difference between an average 2016 and a great one! So, I hope this post has given you some food for thought. Remember, new customers cost six times more to obtain.
